THE PROMISE
OF ENERGY
UTOPIA WAS
SIMPLE.
THE REALITY
ISN’T.

Three pro-environmental filmmakers believed the transition was happening. They set out to find out why it was taking so long.

What they found was sobering: global energy demand is outpacing renewables, and the transition they believed in barely exists. Instead: environmental data manipulated, domestic production quietly replaced by overseas imports under worse conditions, academics and whistleblowers silenced.

Experts from across the nation reached the same conclusion: our dependence on oil runs far deeper than anyone wants to admit.

And then a government whistleblower - a true believer fired for refusing to betray the science - finally speaks. The documents come out. And the real story begins.

There is genuine reason for hope - thousands of renewable energy startups are emerging worldwide, and the technology is real. But none of it matters if we don’t first reckon honestly with how much energy we consume, how we choose to live - and how long this transition is really, practically, going to take.
